'Booting the bottle'

Those aren't my words, I saw them online.

DD is 13 months old and still have three bottles a day (morning, mid afternoon and evening). She alternates between cow's milk and formula.

She is not a good cup-drinker (we've tried easy flow ones, ones you have to suck and those ones that look like normal cups with a silicone bit over the top). She can do it, just chooses not to.

She has loads of teeth, so I'm worried about her dental health if we don't get rid of the bottle pronto.

Do you have any advice? We tried only offering cups of water/milk but she has 10-20ml then refuses any more. I don't want her to get dehydrated.

Open cup with a straw can be surprisingly successful. Adult to steady the cup at first.

We got DS drinking from what amazon call ‘pixie cups’. They have a straw and are fairly difficult to pour water out of. Once he had the hang of that we were able to move onto other cups.

Just tried DD with a straw Donkey (but not a 'straw donkey') she was very surprised, didn't immediately reject it, but only took a few sips.

Off to look at Pixie Cups Handbag.

Thank you both.

Yup those are the ones. We have three or four. They do leak water when held upside down open (and DS gives a helpful shake!) but it doesn’t pour out. He likes the straw and it’s held in place unlike a normal one.

It worked for us, and at a point where he wouldn’t drink water at all, only milk. It might not work for others but I think you just keep buying cups til you crack it!

Just keep offering water in cup ... DC learn quite quickly , they can still have milk in bottle at bedtime .
