Is this normal for nearly 3 year old

He's 2, 3 in a few weeks. He's quite an emotional little boy anyway, but what concerns me is total lack of focus for anything that he's not interested in.

He has absolutely ZERO interest in colouring in. I thought all children locked colouring in! He won't sit and paint or draw quietly. I'm worried because of the development of his fine motors skills.

He won't do jigsaws at all.

He shouts a lot, as in he speaks really really loudly. He's good at whispering in churches whenever we visit them on holiday though Grin

He's generally pretty good but I've walked in on him a few times at nursery just mucking about and being silly when all the other children look like they're sitting down and listening nicely.

He's silly quite a lot really, going floppy and rolling around. I worry he's a bit socially immature. But in other ways he's really good, he's kind and shares well, and is empathetic to others.

He really doesn't listen. I'm having to repeat EVERYTHING several times. And giving warnings constantly. It's very trying.
Is this standard 3 year old behaviour? I so any advice?

A lot of this is normal - majority of my children couldn't be fucked to colour in, one did do other mark making i.e. chalk, drawing on sand with stick, paint - the other did naff all, his handwriting is still terrible. They are very silly at that age and many like to play very physically. However the fact that he speaks loudly rang a little bell - do you think he can always hear you? Does he sit really close to TV or 'not listen' when his back his turned? Lots of children this age have glue ear, and being a bit 'immature' and not wanting to sit and listen could be part of this.

If you think hearing might be a factor, health visitors can often refer directly for hearing test. A child who has had frequent ENT issues might be more likely to be affected, e.g tonsillitis, ear infections.

Thanks so much for replying! I'm pretty sure his hearing is ok. He just gets really animated and talks a lot but if we keep reminding him to talk in his indoor voice he'll turn it down a bit.

He's never had any ear infections and can will sit on the sofa to watch the telly and seems to hear fine.

I'll speak to the health visitor about that anyway though.
