Giving up comforters

I gave all 3 children muslins as comforters, (easy to clean and replace), and No.1 and No.3 have long given them up. However, No.2 at age 7 is still deeply attached; sucking them much of the night, though not allowed to take them out of the bedroom. She snores terribly, (for which we consulted a paediatrician, and following tests I was dismissed as a neurotic mum,) but I don't know if there is any connection. We are pressing her to give them up because we are concerned about her teeth although 2nd teeth not actually through. Are muslins thick enough to cause dental issues anyhow? Should I force the issue - I hate to traumatise the poor kid. At the moment we are easing the transition with a hot wheat bag, but am I being needlessly cruel?

I don't think muslins would cause any teeth problems

Personally I wouldn't bother trying to get her to give it up
If I had to stop sleeping with the duvet tucked between my knees I would feel awful about it, I feel its even worse for some kids, I think they really do neeed the comfort thing they have to help them through the world.
