Overtired toddler behaviour

At 22 months my dd looked to be droping her day nap. After a few weeks it became clear she was not interested in sleeping in her cot during the day but would happily sleep in the car or buggy. So this is what we now do and it has been fine.
However now at 28 months she has started to fight this sleep sometimes and will now nod off anytime between 12 noon and 4pm depending. Very occasionally she will not nap at all. With the lack of sleep comes high emotion, quick temper and quick to cry. We have had a couple of recent episodes in an art gallery and restaurant where it has been bad and I removed her. A friend has suggested I try to use food treats as an incentive and ride out the crying but when she is this tired there is no reasoning (relatively speaking). Should I try to reinstate a set nap time or just avoid these places when she is tired or any other advice gratefully received?
Happily she is a dream at bedtime... goes down at 7pm with little fuss and rarely wakes before 6.30pm.

It's normal and a hard one to know what's right.

At this age until around 3 I think it's just a case of going with the flo, if she nods off whilst out then fine but ideally do not let them nap after 3pm if your aiming for a 7pm bedtime.

My 24 month old is exactly the same, was out today from 1-4 and she was a nightmare but wouldn't fall asleep in buggy as I'd hoped. If she naps then I put her to bed at 7.30-8, no nap then bed at 6.30.

Either way it's just a difficult stage.
My first went through this and it's exhausting as you feel you can't plan or predict how they will be.

Nap dropping which turns adorable, cute toddlers into monsters and potty training are the worst parts of toddlers Smile

Thank you... feels good to know I am not the only one. Friend made me feel a bit bad.

Friend had either not experienced it or has and has forgot how bloody difficult it is Wink
