Do I take ds6 with me to dr to discuss possible ADHD? Did you?

That's it really. I am concerned he may have ADHD and I am going to go to my docs with him. I presume I will have to give examples and discuss the issues but I don't really want to say it in front of him. Will the gp want to see him in person?

Hopeful bump?

Have the school suggested this? Generally they would pick up on this

I would ask for a phone consultation so I could talk about him without him there (put him on the computer with earphones or similar). Then if he wants to see him, you can take him in afterwards.

His teachers seem quite exasperated with him and he gets warnings quite frequently for his behaviour. I have asked his teacher but she said she isn't an expert and he seems okay.
I have looked on,one and he seems to me to meet the criteria and I have found him so difficult for so long!

I went to the GP about my DD when she was 6 concerned about ADHD. I didn't take her. I didn't say what I thought was wrong, just listed the problems DD was having with behaviour and sleep. GP referred to child development centre. She was diagnosed with ASD at 8.

School were really unhelpful. She was really struggling with bad behaviour and the school had outside agencies and SENCO involved but no one suggested I should get an SN investigated.

Thank you. School have a senco but nobody has mentioned talking to her.
Not sure what to do?

I would have a chat to the GP but also meet with the new teacher in September and discuss the option of senco involvement

I am going through it now. Booked GP appointment in my sons name and I went on my own without him. Actually I have been twice now because first time CAMHS decided they didnt need to do an assessment after 2 10min phone calls. After going through motions with school and Early Years Assessments and a re-referall CAMHS are now finally doing an assessment on my son and actually meeting him. Though something I was told is that you need to really push for it as they will drag their heels (though they have told me I have 2 weeks to return paperwork or they will remove me from the list). I first went to GP in January and I got confirmation for the assessment last week so keep on at them and dont give up!
