Help! Baby won't wind while sleeping? At wits end here

DS2 is 3 weeks old, he brings up his wind perfectly in the day but all the evening and night feeds are horrendous!

He instantly conks to sleep 3 or 4 mouthfuls in and while he'll carry on feeding he's impossible to wind! I try feeding a little, then winding, then feeding again, tried waking him up slightly by changing him or gently blowing on his neck and cheek but he just half opens his eyes and drops right back off.

It can take 2 hours to fully feed and wind him in the early hour feeds and even then he goes to bed full of wind and grunting and twisting like he's in pain?

I'm at my wits end - I can't sleep knowing he's so uncomfortable and quite frankly by the time I've closed my eyes he's awake again for the next feed anyway!

Any help or suggestions?? Please!

If your baby is twisting in his sleep he might have silent reflux. My baby has it as a result of a lactose intolerance. when she was little it made her grunt wheeze and twist in her sleep because the milk comes back up. There are treatments for it. X

Balloo123 I've not heard about that but just read about it and it sounds like just what he's doing, have you had experience with it before? If so what worked for you x

Both of mine were impossible to wind in the night - they would curl up and be too drowsy.

I gave them gripe water before bedtime and kept them upright for half an hour after a feed. That helped a bit and then as they got a bit older (approx 12 weeks?) and their digestive system matured it got better.

My DS was the same, he didn't have any reflux etc so I ended up just putting him back down to sleep at night after ten minutes if there was no joy! If the wind bothered him it would wake him up then we'd get it up. Is it bothering him or do you find he just sleeps through it?

Have you tried infacol? It can be used from birth.

My DS was exactly the sane and would wake up after an hour in pain with pain. He had silent reflux too. I just tried to keep him upright after a feed, used infacol before a feed and put a good sturdy piece of wood under the head end of the crib to lift it a little. All of this helped a little but the only thing that really worked though was just waiting it out. He's coming up to 12 months and is much better at burping after a night feed even if he's asleep and he has started burping and farting in is his sleep so is getting a lot of his own wind out now. I really sympathise but just hang in there and hopefully it will pass.
