Not jumping at 3yo

DS IS 3.1 and can't jump. He was a bum shuffler and late walker (18m) and been on the late side of normal with all his gross motor skills, but this feels super late and worrying. His little sister jumps better than him at 13m Shock.

I'm hoping to get to the HV next week but it's hard with work and I'm worrying. He's generally not very physical - e.g. cannot use a scooter either.

Is he still in the bounds of normal? Is there anything I can do to help / encourage?

Thanks MNers xx

DS couldn't jump at that age. He eventually got the hang of it around 4. Until then, if his friends were jumping, he'd just end his knees & bounce. He started school at 4.3 and couldn't hop then, could hop on his dominant left by Xmas (so 4.6) & on his other leg by Easter (around 4.9).
I mentioned it to various friends who are GPs and no one seemed concerned but he was definitely one of the last.

My friend's son was the same and her GP said it was within the bounds of "normal" until 4.

Thanks guys. This is reassuring. I will still try and get to the HV next week but should enjoy the weekend now!! Stupid anxiety xx

Mine didn't jump until some time over 3. He is now physically fine at 7, if still a bit uncoordinated! (He is particularly excellent at knocking over cups of water and dropping things).

He enjoys sport nevertheless and is average for his age at sports like football, rugby etc. He's an excellent bike rider (despite not being able to pedal at 3.5) and a good long distance runner.

So don't worry! This is very much within the bounds of normal.

My little boy is also 3.1 and isn't quite there with jumping yet either. He kind of goes from one foot to the other! As he can run, do stairs, etc, I'm not worried.
