5 month old suddenly not eating at nights?

DS is 5m, nearly six and he's suddenly going all night without feeds.
He still wakes up crying several times a night but doesn't eat when offered.
He's starting to take his bottle off me and trying to feed himself, in fact he doesn't want me to feed him at all, he wants to do it.

Is this all normal and ok?
Is it ok for him not to feed all night?
And ifs he's not hungry why is he waking up screaming and is difficult to settle again?

The heat do you think? Offer cooled boiled water. Is his room cool?

Of courage it's ok for him to drop his night feeds. What's his eating like in the day?

His eating in the day isn't much better. He eats 3oz to 6oz, he'll stop and start so it can take an hour for him to have 6oz.
I've tried him on 8oz feeds but that wasn't much better.

He fights me when I feed him but he's still getting a hang of feeding himself so feeds can be difficult when he's screaming and wiggling away or trying to take it.

If he's formula fed he might be thirsty rather than hungry, try cooled boiled water for him when he wakes. When it's hot offer him some in the day as well, and see if that helps.

He still sleeps in the same room as me and I'd say it's not to warm, gets to about 21-18 at night

How much water are they allowed at this age?

What size teat is he on?

He's on size 3, Tommee tippee teats/bottles

I have, he doesn't eat much then either.
I've tried him with baby rice so far

My 2 stopped looking for nightfeeds of their own accord at about 3 months, so sounds perfectly normal to me

Oh no baby rice is just crap. It's like wallpaper paste with zero nutritional value.
You could try some purées like pear or banana, or even sweet potato and see how he goes

You can just give him as much water as he likes, especially when it's hot like this, formula doesn't quench thirst too well. Second the trying on purees rather than baby rice - they will have a lot more water in them, and much more nutritionally worth while than baby rice.

It's completely normal for him to drop his feed at six months. Biologically they're capable of not needing to eat at night. Some babies still do wake, but there's no need to worry if he isn't.
It wouldn't surprise me if the weather is waking him up or he may be going through a developmental leap. Also, if he isn't too interested in milk could it be to do with teething?

Teething could be it, you can feel most of them now.
He's always been fussy, not sleeping well, eating funny.
He's small, so I'm a little worried, I've been asked if he's a premie before.

So DS screamed all day today and nothing would calm him. He's just gone to sleep after four hours trying to settle him.
Worder what's going on with him lately.

Leap 5 maybe? My DD has just come out and was an absolute nightmare the entire time

How long was DD like that with leap five?

It really does sound like a leap or teething, or maybe both!
A great app to get is The Wonder Weeks. You put your child's due date in (because they calculate development from due date not birth date) and it tells you all about each leap and has a chart of when they will occur and when your child may be more fussy :) there's also lots of tips on things to do with baby to help him through the leap - games and whatnot :)

I think 4-5 weeks! Her leaps seem to start a bit earlier than expected but not finish any easier
