DD is the same! She can remember songs so easily. She is pretty hopeless at maths but has improved SO much whilst learning her tables, which she did to a very annoying musical tables tape dancing and singing round the room like a complete idiot!!

And wowsers indeed at the title.

Dd2 has this ability with music, too. It annoys me that she won't learn an instrument or even singing. Wish I had her gift - my musical mum has had to come to terms with having four duffers when it comes to all things tuneful!

I had that sort of memory as a child. It's still useful for memorising boring numbers eg PIN codes: I make them into a tune and then just have to hum the tune to myself to remember the number.

Now if anyone can figure out how to use this to help me remember where I have put dd1's library card, that would be lovely.

I think, it is becasue welearn better with rhymes and repeating.

Times tables made into a song will be learnt alot better than by rote.

I think so, I can remember most song words after only hearing the song once or twice (probably an association with the tune, as others have said), yet I struggle to remember what I did yesterday sometimes!
