Wondering how behind DD is

Ds crawled at 9 months walked at 11.
Dd crawled just over 7 months. She's 8months now and cruising round furniture so the push along has just come out. Nephew didn't walk till 18 months.
All babies develop differently.

StorminaBcup · 11/04/2017 22:48

13 mths Blush not 13!

JaxingJump · 11/04/2017 22:51

All so different. DS crawled at 9mths and walked at 9mths. DD1 crawled at 5 maths and walked at 10months. DD2 crawled at 6mths and walked at 11 mths. But mine were a lot faster than most of their peers so I know it's totally normal to be much later than that.

Dd crawled at 7 months and walked just before her 1st birthday. DS bum shuffled from 10 months, took his first steps at 14 months. He didn't crawl till after he walked confidently so well into 15 months. I know many children who have walked at 17 months plus they are all very different

If you are looking for averages then get a copy of birth to five book.

DS crawled at about 11 months and started walking at 15/16 months.

DD crawled at 10 months and finally took her first steps this week at 20 months! Better late than never!

They are all different.

My Mum always says that none of her children were the same. I was 10 months, my brother was around 1 but my younger sisters were late at 18 months and 21 months to walk!!

dotdotdotmustdash · 13/04/2017 21:04

Both of my DC crawled at just turned 7 months and walked a couple of weeks after their first birthday. They were both very slim babies and I think it was easy for them to crawl and they didn't have chubby tummies.

Thought I'd update, had follow up appointment today with first referral doctor. Now DD has been referred to a physio/child development specialist, also to be followed up with the first doctor we were sent to

How old is DD, OP?

caffeineandcalpol · 14/04/2017 08:14

Sorry hadn't realised I'd left that out. 13 months , only just rolled over in the past 2 weeks. Also they said her motor skills haven't improved

Can't remember crawling it was 34 years ago! But DS walked at 11 months.
My sister who is 16 years younger than me didn't walk until 2, probably because she expected me to carry her everywhere - we are very close :-)
She is perfectly normal now and does a lot of sports.
They will do it in their own time, I wouldn't worry about it or compare to others.
Apart from walking my son was behind with every milestone but now he is a professional artist and is very successful in life. he just did everything at his own pace.

DoorwayToNorway · 14/04/2017 08:22

All mine crawled at 6-7 months. One was dragging himself around at 5 months. They all walked around 12 months, except one who was 16 months.

Oysterbabe · 14/04/2017 12:26

DD is 15 months and bum shuffles at great speed but doesn't crawl. She likes spending a lot of time standing up holding on to furniture but walking seems a long way off. The HV is not concerned because she is progressing, the bum shuffling only started just before 14 months. She was born preterm and is a very cautious and timid baby. She'll get there but it's hard not to worry.

tessiebear4 · 15/04/2017 00:19

Looking several years back, my first DS didn't roll over until between 12-13 months. He was later than average with all milestones, but now you wouldn't notice any difference at all with his peers. I'm not trivialising your concerns, but also remember that very young children can suddenly make huge developmental leaps.

tinypop4 · 15/04/2017 06:14

Agree with tessiebear. Great that your lo is being checked over but my ds for example made progress late, and suddenly. On his first birthday he was doing nothing except sitting and a little shuffling. He didn't crawl, roll or pull up to stand. 2 weeks later he pulled to stand, 13 months he cruised and 14 months he took his first steps. Only after he could walk did he crawl and I never saw him roll over properly although he can now at 21 months. Hope dd is okay

MrsPringles · 15/04/2017 07:53

DS didn't walk til he was 22 months!

Madness

Flambola · 16/04/2017 21:23

My DD has only just started taking a few steps on her own. She's 17 months. I was a bit worried tbh but feeling much better after reading these comments.

Elvander · 18/04/2017 12:14

Dd started bum shuffling at 14 months, bearing weight on her legs at 15 months and walked at 20 months. She never crawled, absolutely hated lying on her tummy and didn't do much rolling. It turns out that she has hypermobile joints - we were under the observation of a paediatrician for a while (no intervention was required in the end and she was discharged last month), and while her motor skills are a bit behind those of her peers at the moment, she'll hopefully catch up eventually! I spent a lot of time worrying about this so I completely understand your concern - you're doing the right thing by getting dd checked out. My dd was probably about the same age as yours when we first saw a doctor - they weren't willing to do much until she was over 18 months, but they did check out her hips etc to rule out any obvious problems and we then had appointments every few months to check how things were going.
