worried about 13 month old development - not mobile

My daughter is 13 months (born at 37 weeks weighing 1.7kg) and I'm worried about her development. She's doesn't crawl, can't get up from lying / sitting to her feet, and doesn't bum shuffle. She can walk if I get her to standing and will happily walk by herself for a few steps, or walk with my finger for support. The doctors have said her muscle tone is fine and there is no immediate concern. I leave her toys on furniture to encourage her to get to her feet, but she just doesn't seem interested. I'm now trying to track down a physiotherapist to help. However, have any of you been in the similar position? Any tips on what I can do? TIA

My mother spent money on specialists, doctors and second opinions when I was a similar age 33 years ago. Spent months worrying about me having hip problems. Turns out I was just lazy. Stop worrying. 13 months is still just a baby, enjoy the no walking until it's a problem and stop listening to anyone who thinks it's a problem. If you're putting all her toys in reaching distance she has no reason to move.

i do wonder if that is the case....i feel i have to do something, if that makes sense?

i do put toys out of her reach, but she doesn't seem bothered about getting them. not sure how else i can encourage that behaviour?

DD sat on her ass till she was one and then just got up and walked. My friend who is a psychoanalyst said one child development theory is that children who walk and talk later it's because all their needs are being met so they don't need to have walk to get things / ask for things they want. i like to think of it this way.

Just enjoy it. once they are up, they never sit back down!

Some children just walk without crawling or bum shuffling. DS didn't walk unaided until 16 months, and I think HV like to wait until 18 months for investigations.

I would ask for your DD to be referred to a paediatric doctor just for your peace of mind. Does she use both hands? How does she move around if she doesn't crawl or bum shuffle?

Can she roll over both ways?
Can she get from lying to sitting?

she doesn't crawl, and is only starting to bum shuffle....but at the moment is stationary.

she has rolled over from front to back and vice versa, but is not keen on it and therefore doesn't do it. she can't get from lying to sitting.

any suggestions on what i can do?

My son went from starting to crawl to walking in just two weeks. He had very weak core muscles/upper body strength so found walking easier than crawling. I didn't realise how weak he was until he saw an OT at 6 years old.

Is your DD happy to lie on her front to play with toys to build up her strength.

sorry, still new to abbreviations...what's an OT?

she's not keen on tummy time...although I do try to encourage her with that.

Where are you based?

My dd had no interest whatsoever in pulling herself up and trying to walk at 13 months. She went everywhere on her knees, at speed. It happened eventually - try not to worry!

we are seeing a physiotherapist next week and will take it from there. ive been informed that a physiotherapist is more likely to address my daughters concerns, and we may see an OT afterwards, unless anyone has other advice?

IME they don't get from lying to sitting until they can crawl. At least my 3 didn't. At 13 months I think it's a bit young to be worried. And some babies never crawl. Apparently I didn't. And only walked at 23 months. I can crawl now though...

Someone in my online mothers group had the same issues with her DD.

It turns out she has hyper mobile joints. She took her to a physio and was diagnosed.

I'd go with the physio appointment and get that peace of mind.

My dd didn't walk or even sit up by herself at that stage. Her twin was on the move early. They are all different
