Is your Five-year-old mindbogglingly argumentative? Come share, make me feel better!

Today, I had a big fight with DS1 about whether 'to-may-toes' and 'to-mah-toes' are the same. He was explaining to me that he didn't like one, but liked the other (cue me being very confused), when I realised he thought they were different things. Apparently they are both vegetables, but one is red, and the other isn't.

Am a mix of and at this, but he really wore me out (I had a bad afternoon.).

So, what arguments have you had lately with your five-year-old?

DD1 and her best friend (both 4.5) had a blazing row yesterday because one of them saw some "flowers" and the other insisted that they were "daffodils". "no, they're flowers" "no, you're wrong, they're daffodils." "Mummy, tell x she's wrong, they're flowers". etc etc etc

Never have I seen such a heated debate this side of the United Nations.

Don't worry, Frances, I suffer from the same disorder myself, sometimes. Whether it's about my accent, or the everpresent moon/biscuit debate.

I have resorted to "ask your teacher, if you don't believe me" - since clearly she is the fount of all knowledge and I know nothing. Have also occasionally used "Granny's a teacher, let's ask her" (she is)

Poncey I know, but you try arguing with a 4yo about whether a 2 dimensional thing can be a cuboid when you are driving and therefore cannot draw things (even in the air) to explain your point!
