I'm getting concerned that my 7 year old DS is developing a sickness phobia

He has always fought being sick when he has a bug & gets quite panicky just before he's sick, but I put that down to the fact it was unpleasant for him.
Just recently he has started panicking when others are sick though, and I fear he is developing a phobia here.
Last time his younger brother was ill, he shut himself in his playroom crying, because he was scared he might catch it.
His TA told me that he backed right away from a child in class after hearing he was going home due to illness, and then last night he said that he was worried because a child in his class felt sick & he is worried that he will now catch it.
I am getting quite concerned about this now, and don't quite know the best way to deal with it.

Think they went to the toilet & didn't make it, from what I could make out. (Little girl with a name similar to your DD3, minus the U!)
Don't know what to do about this really. I can't see the doctors taking it very seriously as he's so young.

Do you think GP would take it seriously?

Guess there's no harm in asking.
I really don't know the best way of dealing with it myself.

Have you had any kind of help for your phobia, HBG?

Pinkbubble is having CBT for a vomit phobia & has found it really helpful.
Might be worth you talking to your GP to see what they can offer you. It appears to be a very comon phobia.

Think that would be a really positive thing for you to do. It must be hard for you to cope with this fear at times, especially with 2 young children.
