Where and when do you get a dd measured for a bra?

Mine has been wearing trainer type bras but now i wonder if I should get her properly measured. People on here often say m and s are rubbish at this so wondering where people might recommend? She isn't so keen on the idea but accepts it might be sensible.....

How old is your DD and how developed is she? I took my DD to M&S they were dreadful definitely don't go there. I waited a goodly few months to get over the trauma of M&S and tried a local specialist bra shop and they were fine with DD. She is well developed and started wearing one in the second half of year 6.

Bravissimo might be good? Or any other specialist bra shop if you have any near you?

She is 11.5 and has been wearing something for a year but now she looks more like she has small breasts rather than just beginning to develop if that makes sense. I will look up bravissimo.

Just try a local specialist bra shop if you have one go in and if the staff seem nice approachable and not snottir get a fitting. Yes avoid bravissimo they mainly cater for DD to JJ or something and they don't really do comfy bras that your DD would wear or find comfortable.

If you are near a John Lewis they are excellent at fitting and have a good selection of sizes

The Boob or Bust www.booborbust.com calculator is an excellent starting point. Or A Bra That Fits www.reddit.com/r/ABraThatFits/. They use slightly different techniques from each other but either of them is likely to be much better than M&S or many other shops.

Yes John Lewis / really they just brought in a selection and she tried for size until comfortable

Bravissimo do all sizes and are lovely. I went to m&s for my first and it was awful. Bravissimo are brilliant. All the women I know now go there and rave about it. They also have a section on their site that talks about what happens at siblings and there is a live chat your dd can go on beforehand if she is a bit uncomfortable to ask any questions.

Thanks all. There is a John Lewis in the town we are going to tomorrow so will try that in the first instance. Much appreciate all the advice

Just to warn anyone reading this thread that you have to book online in advance in John Lewis. So we didnt get to be measured today :(
