Can be Yorkiegirl. Can be a sign of things like dyspraxia (often because of hypersensitivity so they try to keep as little as possible contact wth the ground). Might be worth a mention to the HV just so an eye is kept on it.
How long has she been doing it? It can just be a phase as well. My friend's son did it when he was about 2 and she got really paranoid as he has an autistic sister. But he stopped and now if you ask him to walk on tiptoes (he's 3) he can't!

The children I know who have walked on tiptoes AND had problems had plenty of other signs of problems iyswim.

my dd2 walks on tiptoes most of the time. she also walks on the side if her feet (doesnt put the flat of her feet down) and stumbles often. she is a very very clumsy girl.

walking on tiptoes can be a sign of tight tendons, but i think your dd would be walking on tip toes with shoes on too. speak to your HV if you are worried.

dd2 is always falling over nothing. we asked for a referral back in jan, and it took ages to come thro. her walking hasnt improved at all in the last year (she is only 21months but has been walking since 10months old). she has a few issues with her behaviour/devolpemnt but her speech is coming on great now. she is very bright but frustrated. her feet are very flat as well, so dont know if this has anything to do with her walking.

probably means nothing then. each child is different (so i keep getting told). but there is only so many times she can fall into a door frame b4 people think i'm battering the poor dear.

Yorkiegirl, my son is now 7 and still has a tendency to walk on his tiptoes. He has done this since he was a toddler. It doesn't seem to be a problem. He's really sporty and runs like the wind!!

my DD walked on her tiptoes an awful lot at about the same age. Then we asked her to walk with her feet down and she has done ever since. There was and isn't anything at all wrong with her (but then I'm biased )

My Sister did this, she is now 32, and has no problems at all. My Ds (age 2) does it too. I don't wory for that reason! HTH x
