Help!!! - baby crying all day

Hi!

My DD (almost 7 m.o.) cries all day. It all starts with her morning nap (which she can't have because she cries al the time). I put her down when she starts rubbing her eyes and looks tired, but she just cries and it goes on all day. I just can't cope any more. She used to be ok, but last 2 days, it's just cry all the time what ever you do - play with her, take her for a walk, sing to her - she won't respond.

Help!

You could also try cooked small pasta shells or baby rice cakes ?

My dd is nearly 9 months and has a whole weetabix for breakfast with some fruit then a whole small jar (my own food for savoury but in a jar for freezing) of savoury and a whole small jar of sweet (bought purees) for lunch and then a whole larger jar (again my own for savoury ) and about 1/2 a jar of sweet for tea at 4.30 then has an 8oz bottle at 6.45pm before bed.

However she is being a little monkey with sleeping at the moment and am about to seek advice on another thread so can't help there I'm afraid.

Lilia, Don't want to alarm you, but my good friend's 2nd baby went through a phase of unexplained crying for about a month. Two visits to the GP resulted in diagnosis of just one of those things. Finally my friend insisted on a referral to a paediatrician, and after tests and X rays they diagnosed an internal infection and she was admitted to hospital and then on antibiotics at home for several months. Don't forget that your 7 mth old is communicating something to you by crying. I hope it is just teething and she gets better soon.

Tillysmummy and others- I did a bit of shopping and compared prices.... Baby Organix which I nornally like is OVER charging for their baby rice cakes versus Kallo which sells mini unsalted rice cakes for a fraction of the price. I bought both : they look and taste the same !

Tillysmummy · 05/06/2002 10:14

That's really interesting Pupuce. Where do you get them ? I normally shop at Sainsbury's. Must admit to having thought a few times how expensive they are and wondered about giving her normal rice cakes that have reduced salt ?

pupuce · 05/06/2002 10:17

Sainsburys sells them in my town - have a look and ask the manager!

Tillysmummy · 05/06/2002 10:40

Will do. Thanks ! Any other rip off / money saving tips ?

Lilia · 05/06/2002 21:11

I second enids comment about the sleeping bag my we bought one for dd because she turns herself round in her cot and got her legs stuck through the bars. She loves it and knows when i put it on that shes going to get a bf and big special cuddles till shes drowsy then i pop her in her cot and shes fine apart from the last 2 nights when our neighbourhood organised a 48 hour jubilee rave to celebrate the jubilee that had my windows vibrating in their frames (but thats a different matter) As for CC it doesnt work if you give in even after an hour they just learn to cry for longer i dont think it works for all babies IMO if its working the crying should be getting less furious if the crying is getting wose and worse and dd is making herself sick (also i presume she wasnt doing this until recently) i would think that something was causing your dd to cry. I would try to rule out everything else before trying CC again. Does she bf well? Could your milk be dwindling because your not feeding so often now? Perhaps one of the other experts on here could advise? As for feeding and being hungry i'd be guided by her appetite and have her weight gain checked regularly rather than go by the books, I found the books helpful but sometimes i think you need to put them away and look at baby that youve got rather than the 'average' (if there such a thing) baby they are writing about.

We must be posting at the same time!! Glad to hear shes back to normal - they're cuious little creaures sometimes!

aloha · 05/06/2002 22:21

So glad she's back to normal. Maybe she was a bit fed up! I just think crying is the most stressful thing ever so I'm glad you're feeling happier.

Blimey Lilia, two cubes? does she really say that? I think my ds would learn to walk and leave home if I only gave him two cubes For snacks I give him rice cakes, breadsticks, bread and butter, bread and hummous (LOVES that), toast and butter, banana, microwaved apple mush with yoghurt or cream and the cow&gate vitamin enriched baby biscuits, which he absolutely loves because they are so easy to hold (and which don't put him off his savoury food at all). Babies often grow out of dairy intolerance I believe so it might be worth trying again and monitoring carefully. Personally I think a little sugar does a baby no harm at all - though I know that's not everyone's opinion.

I agree with Pupuce about the Kallo ricecakes and know they are available in Asda.
