Separation anxiety

My 9 month old DS is terrible at the moment, I literally can't leave the room for a minute without him trying to follow me or crying after me. Sometimes he can be sat on my knee for a good hour and cries when I put him down.

As much as I enjoy the snuggles, it's getting a bit too much! Any tips on how to deal with this?

It's a normal phase I'm afraid. My twins used to hammer on the loo door howling.

Sometimes you just have to let them cry for a minute. Other times set him up somewhere safe e.g. in a high chair with a toy etc if you need to get cooking etc done.

It passes quite quickly but it's hard work in the meantime!

I dared to pop him on the bathroom floor this morning while I nipped to the loo and he screamed the house down! Hope it passes soon!

It may seem silly, but have you tried games such as peekaboo? Helps the child to see that just because he/she can't see you, it doesn't mean you're not there.

Yes gin we've played that a few times and he seems to love the game, gets all excited, but doesn't seem to understand what it means haha

I used to sing in the loo. It helped a bit.
