8yo seems to lose cognitive skills... hormones?

Not sure but for the last 3-4 weeks DS seems to be less "switched on" than usual...
Sometimes when asked an easy question he will just look at me/person with glazed eyes and a big question mark above his head.
He used to be a bit more "on-board" before.

Could it be hormones? Although I would have thought hormones were mainly affecting behaviour/aggressiveness rather than cognition level?

I am hoping it is not something awful like a delayed condition, etc...
Anyone can point me in the right direction?
Thanks

I'd be looking at diet well before any kind of delayed condition.

Well his diet has not changed at all... but his amount of "brightness" has.

If there's been a significant change in his behaviour, I think you should see your GP TBH.

Hassled · 06/12/2016 21:40

Is he distracted by stuff - school, friends? Is he just seeming a bit dippy because his mind is elsewhere - does he have worries/anxiety? What do school think?
But if you're worried enough to be posting here then I think you're probably worried enough to see the GP.

Get his blood tested for B12, folate and ferritin.

Has he been like this before? One of mine gets like this before growth spurts, but this usually only lasts 10 days or so.

Have their been any changes st hone recently? Has he started to spend a lot of time doing stuff with screens?
