Apologies for the crap pun, but all my brain cells are currently being used up with trying to get DD to eat some solids!

She was EBF until 6months, then a mixture of BLW and spoon feeding. At 12months she was on 3 meals + 1 snack + 2 nursing feeds (before a nap and before bed) and it felt like everything was moving in the right direction.

But since about 4 weeks ago her appetite for solids seems to have decreased and her nursing has increased so much it feels like she is constantly attached to me on my days off. Today she had 1/4slice of toast at breakfast, refused a snack, 2 teaspoons of risotto for lunch and about 4 bits of penne pasta, but she has been nursing CONSTANTLY. I am worried that getting the bulk of her calories from breast milk at this point is not good for her.....

Has anyone else experienced this, and more importantly does it just pass without intervention?!?

Hi my little one is 16 months and can be off his food sometime if he is teething (he is at the moment). We have good feeding days and bad feeding days. He has been on cows milk since 10 months as he refused formula. He also feeds himself with or without cutlery. Keep going as you are, offering healthy snacks in between. Maybe try new things. Hope that helps

I stopped bf at thirteen months for this reason .... and I felt he was waking in the night for the comfort rather than the need iykwim?
So that's not much help - are you set on continuing bf to a particular age?

Thanks for your replies.

pinklady yeah she is teething at the minute, also took her first steps a couple of weeks ago and has been pretty clingy ever since, so I'm guessing the constant nursing is for comfort as much as anything. We definitely need to try some new meals though, the relentlessness of constantly preparing meals has meant I've got stuck in a bit of a rut.

running yeah she is definitely nursing in the night for comfort rather than because she needs it, I'm not particularly set on a time frame to stop breastfeeding, but she doesn't seem ready to give it up yet, I think her molars are coming through at the minute and with the ramped-up separation anxiety since starting to walk it might have to wait a little while.....
