was this a tantrum?!

Dd, 20 months, still hasn't had what I think I know is a tantrum yet. But this thing happened just now and I'm not sure if it was one or if she's not well. She didn't want to eat any lunch (ok, never a big eater but usually has something), then I changed her nappy and suggested we went to her room to read a book before her nap as always. She spotted a new colouring in book I got her this morning and I said 'we'll look at that later' and she got a bit cross as she's v. into her colouring books! I took her down anyway and she started to really scream, not like her at all, back arching, coughing and spluttering and then projectile vomited all over me and the floor. So I cleaned everything up and as she was shaky we went and did some colouring in the book and then went down, read a story and she's gone straight to sleep. Do you think her wanting her own way with the book could have caused this, or do you think she's feeling ill and therefore a bit more tesky about the things she wants?

It sounds like she is ill rather than being stroppy. The fact she was off her food, started screaming for no apparent reason, and then was sick. Have you washed everything really well? Preferably in 60 degrees or hotter? Catching tummy bugs off your kids is a nightmare.
wow, i wish I didn't know what a tantrum was!!

i agree - doesn't sound like a tantrum. i always wonder if changes in the weather don't help, and it has been quite hot earlier in the week. Flat lemonade is quite good if they've been sick, it helps them not be nauseous but there's no medication as such in it (works for adults too!!)

Well, since I wrote earlier I've had a bit of a dire day with dd. She wasn't sick again though has only really drunk some milk and eaten a bit of pasta and bread. I'm tempted to not think it's a stomach bug. But she's been really on the edge all day long. Every single thing has set her off into tears of rage and frustration which is really not like her and I don't think she could change character overnight? The one thing she keeps saying is 'sore' when I'm changing her nappy and she did a wee on the floor when nappyless before her bath and said 'sore' when weeing so I'm wondering if she's maybe got some cystitis or something like that. She doesn't look particularly sore, not like she has with nappy rash sometimes. But she also won't let me look or try to clean her properly as she gets upset and keeps saying 'no, sore, sore.' Does anyone know how they check for cystitis? I'm planning on a trip to the gp on Monday if things aren't better tomorrow. She's not feverish or pale or anything else I can think of to mention. But I think she's cried more today than she normally does in a fortnight so something's definitely bothering her.

Actually I'm now going to post this on the 'health' board where I think it's more appropriate.
