Brand new to mumsnet...the publicity pulled me right in!
I have 14 month old triplets and it has become a bloody nightmare to get one of them dressed. He screams as if he's being burned and squirms away and hides...I don't think supernanny is coming for a visit anytime so can you gals help me out...do I give a swat on the bum? redirect? Hold him between my knees and wrestle him into his clothes???
Any advice would be so appreciated!

jonib, don't have triplets, I struggle with one at a time!! but ds3 is very like your little one. I find that if I dress him on my lap I have more control but have ended up running down the landing after him all the same.
Welcome to Mumsnet! There is a section for Multiple births so you may get more help there!

THanks for responding...I visit/lurk at a triplet connection site...many of those mums home school, serve healthy food and basically do everything perfect...I have loved what I've read on mums net and I'm not even from the UK...so excited to be a part!

I also struggle with my one, so am probably no help at all...
But my dd is 15m and hates getting dressed, so I have to make it into a game, pretend to chase her saying 'get this vest on...' in a fun voice. or pretend I dont know where tights go, like 'do tights go on your head? no? on your arms then? sometimes lures her in.
But it takes longer. Guess you dont really have that time with three.

fryalot · 02/02/2007 18:54

Or, turn up the heating and let all three run about naked for a while?

Kif · 02/02/2007 18:55

have you tried binary choices? white shirt or blue = that kind of thing. When my dd was a touch older, choices would make her feel grown up

I knew I would like this board....I say turn up the heat and not dress them at all...
I think the whole dressing thing is overated anyway...besides, their little bottoms are cute as can be...
guess I can always call in a carpet cleaner!

Jogging bottoms, t shirts and hoodies. All very easy to persuade a wriggler into.

Ds1 used to scream like I was subjecting him to the Spanish inquisition when I dressed him.

do it the night before saves hassle in the morning

Ds is a bit like this - he's 18 months now. I tend to do the old "where have your feet gone ... peepo!!" as I put his trousers on, and put him in as few clothes as possible to minimise the stress. Changing his nappy is always a challenge too, but I can usually distract him with a toy or by singing to him. He just hates being pinned down!
