My dd does this.
I keep a couple of toys/books/tubes of cream handy for her to play with/gnaw. Seems to distract her, and she forgets to scream

thanks macdog, i've tried doing it but she doesn't seem interested in anything but getting away from me/wipes/lovely clean nappy. i'm beggining to dread her having a wee and even more a pooh

we sometimes have this on days when he's feeling fragile with teething. When it happens I do as much of the nappy change with him sat on my lap as poss ie. taking off trousers and putting back on and undoing/doing up vest and as for the rest I give him a toy and just do it super quick! Is it just when you actually clean her? Or an aversion to the lying on back being changed?

just lying on her back undoing the nappy wiping and putting the nappy on doing up her vest - all of it

tron, my ds hated being on his back like this too and I remember chasing him round the room once with him slithering away like a snake and screaming blue murder at the same time....

I went over to pull up nappies and always changed him standing up. Worked a treat, though depends on whether she stands solidly. Definitely go for this if or when she is solid on her feet!

i'll give the pull ups a try - she's happiest of all standing up. thanks SSUp!!!!
