Early waking - Bunny Alarm Clock??

DS up at 5ish. Today was 6.30. Think we are gradually cracking it by strict enforcement - pre 6.30 he HAS to go back to bed even if it takes several goes to achieve it, post 6.30 i turn the light on but he has to stay in his room (stair gate to keep him in). Wondered if anyone had used one of those clocks where bunny opens his eyes at the predetermined acceptable time, so they learn when is ok to get up and when too early (eyes closed on bunny). Worth investing in or just a gimmick? He's 2.11. Thanks

Didn't work for us - ds kept playing with the alarm, and carried on getting up regardless of what the bunny thought ...Not so bad now he's 7...

Bunny clock expensive and crap.

Cheap alternative - nightlight powered by a timer switch. Stay i bed unti light comes on!

Bunny Clock doesn't work, unless your LO goes to bed late and gets up early: if you set it for 8am before 9pm it goes off in the evening instead of the morning...

agree with sassy, those clocks are 20 quid FFS

Another vote for a nightlight plugged into a timer switch. Works v well with DS1, and has for ages.

We like the bunny clock - you do have to sneak in at your own bedtime and reset though, because of the 12hr thing. Kids love it and on the whole they're fairly good at playing in their rooms until the magic time, then they fling open our door yelling happily "BUNNY'S AWAKE!" (top tip - make sure your own alarm is set to just before bunny's time or it's a bit of a rude awakening )

I would put it on a high shelf where they can see it but not fiddle with it though, the ears can be a bit fragile.

thanks - split vote! 5.50 am this morning, variously wanting to be in bed with us, tired, not tired, hungry, wanting a book, wanting to play. Fell asleep on the rug in the end as won't get back in - I'd held him down and soothed him to sleep once (i thought) but as soon as I went he was up again. Will look into night light idea - any suggestions where such a thing can be purchased?

we just used a timer on a normal lamp. it doesn;t really matter what it is (bunny clock, night light, normal light) it's just something that tells them whether it's getting up time or not. I guess the night light would be less bright - so won;t necessarily wake them up.
