Dh & I were just discussing how much the tooth fairy would leave when ds looses his first tooth.
We couldn't agree so I thought I would ask the people who know

Its £1 a tooth in our house.

emsiewill · 21/01/2007 16:09

£2 for first tooth (due to that being the smallest change I had when dd1 lost her first tooth )

50p for each tooth after that - and we are officially the "meanest tooth fairy in town" according to the dds...

asleep · 21/01/2007 16:10

£1

pinkbubble · 21/01/2007 16:15

£1 for the first tooth and then 50p after that. Reason being when you have 3DC and they are all losing teeth at the same time iy becomes very expensive for tooth fairy!(especially as youngest DC was pulling her teeth out to get more money)

kittypants · 21/01/2007 16:16

£1,i thought 50 p was enough but dh said £1!and a cute little letter saying thankyou for teeth and to keep brushing so that teeth are all shiny to make a palace with

JustIvor · 21/01/2007 16:17

£1. Quite often the tooth fairy adds her own little note to the one left with the tooth.

WigWamBam · 21/01/2007 16:17

£1 a tooth.

Although dd was very disappointed when she opened up the first little parcel and found the pound ... she wanted a nice shiny 5p piece. Guess she doesn't have much awareness of the value of money yet ...!

mrspitt · 21/01/2007 16:18

Ds's first tooth fell out at school last week and the fairy left him £1. His other tooth is ready to go aswell so if they all go at this rate it could end up 50p instead!

emsiewill · 21/01/2007 16:19

Looks like we could well be the meanest tooth fairy in town...not that I mind, I like to be different.

it's usually £2 a tooth in our house (dd saves £2 coins) but the tooth fairy forgot to come last time (oops!) so to make up for it, the next night she left a fiver!!!! She's not very reliable our tooth fairy

juuule · 21/01/2007 16:23

£1 for the first one and 50p thereafter.

pianist · 21/01/2007 16:31

Usually a £2 coin, especially for the first tooth, but sometimes the tooth fairy only has a £1 coin!

bizzi · 21/01/2007 16:48

£1 a tooth in our house too. She always leaves a little letter with titchy writing and sometimes there's even a trace of fairy dust.

whoopsfallenoveragain · 21/01/2007 16:50

I was thinking £1 and dh said 50p so I think we may do £1 for first one then 50p for the rest!
Amazing how much the tooth fairy gives now considering I only got 5p for mine

saw this thread and just had to add this
my dd's woke me up this morning creeping into the room and taking the coppers from the bedside table

I followed them back to their own bedroom where I saw them putting the money under the pillows. So I had to ask -the reply was we are putting the money under our pillows so the tooth fairy will leave us a tooth lol.
dd just 6 is obsessed as everyone in her class has lost a tooth and she has not!!

ps it will be a £1 in this house when the time comes

Budababe · 21/01/2007 16:59

We were in London for weekend when DS's first tooth fell out and the smallest money I had was a 5 pound note!!!!

See he did well there.

Have explained that toothfairy prob got mixed up with currencies and that it's 500 forint in Hungary (about 1.50) for first tooth!

Hmm emsie, I think we've just won that cheapest toothfairy in town trophee. Our toothfairy has brough 20p twice, although I did saiy to dh that I thought £1 would probably be better. He said that the toothfairy brought him 20p and so 20p would do for our DS. I told him that there's such a thing as inflation and that I was pretty sure that counted for toothfairies too especially as it must have been at least 35y since the toothfairy last visited him! Still DS was happy with his money & too young to realise.

Troutpout · 23/01/2007 22:30

£1

BettySpaghetti · 23/01/2007 22:31

£1 and a book about the tooth fairy for the first tooth
£1 for each subsequent tooth

Hallgerda · 24/01/2007 09:10

50p (was 20p until DS2 discovered the fairy in the next street gave £2).

Our 18 months old DD fell out of her highchair 2 days after Xmas. We are now not sure how she did it but one of her front tooth with the root came out (with lots of blood), it was very scary but she didn't damage her face or any other teeth... Anyway we called the dentist straight away, who told us to put immediately the teeth in milk, and to give DD some paracatemol and to come and see him asap. After looking at her gum etc(while she was screaming), he decided to not re implant the tooth in case of infection etc. So we came back home with one toothless DD... The tooth fairy came that night and brought her £2.00...
She didn't understand what was going on but the next teeth won't be more than £1.00...

anniebear · 24/01/2007 12:44

I prefer 50p!!!

I have twins and am going to having 2 lots falling out at similar times!!

will cost us a fortune at £1/2 a go lol

My Daughters would be made up with 50p, but then I hate the thought of everyone else at school getting £1 or more. How do you explain that to them?
