...I can see two teeth coming through and she seems obviously in pain, sleeping disrupted and always at her mouth. Calpol doesn't seem to do much and she doesn't reaaly go for teething rings. Are any of the gels worth a shot?

Thanks.

Poor little mite.

I found Nelsons Teetha really helpful. They are sachets of homeopathic powder . You can buy them in Boots and most chemists as well as health food places.

My 2 DS always munched on chunks of french stick/baguette during the day, it must have helped, because they didn't waken at night much

WeaselMum · 19/01/2007 16:38

Anbesol liquid (rather than gel) seems to help my ds - also use Medised if his teeth bother him in the night

bumbleweed · 19/01/2007 18:08

another vote for nelsons teething powders - my dd actually asks for them now (by pointing) so they must help as they taste of nowt

teething powder, or baby neurofen (when he's real bad). calpol does nothing for J, but the other works within half hour tops.

princessmel · 19/01/2007 18:12

Bongela or Calgel are good. Calgel tastes nicer.

I use a homepathic remedy called camomilla(sp) too which comes in tiny little balls that disolve in the mouth.

If nights are really bad then medised.

NannyL · 20/01/2007 00:11

babies who i have looked after have been really helped by a combination of

nelson teething salts (or the boots own brand)
anbesol
calgel
bickie pegs
and calpol (or medised for night time )

vizbizz · 20/01/2007 04:09

we found that bongela helps for a little while.
ours likes chewing on our fingers too (ouch!)

alipiggie · 20/01/2007 04:14

Ashton Parson's teething powders also homeopathic and Biccie Pegs.

mamama · 20/01/2007 04:15

Other than calpol/ bonjela/ teething powder, I have seen people use various things to chew on:

  • frozen bagels
  • wet wash cloth put in freezer overnight
  • gel toys put in the freezer

My DS loved teaspoons to chew on.

Thanks everyone, I am off into town with a shopping list of these suggestions!

A better night last night.
Have a good weekend

Anbesol...it's a godsend!

princessmel · 20/01/2007 12:24

Whats anbesol? Is ita gel or a powder?

evamum · 20/01/2007 13:16

Its a liquid in a little bottle, only need a drop but it numbs it instantly.

princessmel · 20/01/2007 13:22

Thanks

tinkerbellie · 20/01/2007 13:50
