Reassurance sought...I'm fine until I start reading other people's posts about their child holding full on conversations at age 7 months...

DS is 17 months. He says 'oh dear' if he drops something. He says 'Byeee" and he says "Ah doo Daht" (which we don't understand!).

He isn't consistent with "Dada" or "Mama" or anything else much, although he does babble away to himself a lot.

Normal, yes?

Friends dd (18 mths) can 'oink' and 'roar'. Sometimes they are even made when looking at animals ! They're not at all worried, and from the thread it sounds quite normal. Children can't do everything at the same ages. I would imagine your ds does things other similar aged children can't do. Keep chatting to him and including him in conversations and soon you won't be able to shut him up.

prampusher, dd (10 months) doesn't play with anything unless it involves using it to move over here, over there, ...
