I have just had a lovely new addition to my family ten weeks ago. The past 3 weeks when she cries my toddler ( 21 months) screams and cries hysterically untill you point out she's stopped crying. If she doesn't stop, he doesn't stop!! Untill 3 weeks ago when she cried he would say uh oh! And drag me over to her. I am at my wits end and slowly loosing my sanity!! Any one else had this and how did you deal with it?

Hi. I’m now jumping onboard to see if any of you have made progress? My DS is 3 and baby is a week old and DS literally shakes with fear when the baby cries with tears rolling down his face. He can just about tolerate him when he is asleep and I’ve managed to get him to kiss him on the head but other that it’s all negative feelings and causes him stress. He tries to leave the room as soon as me and the baby come in. It’s so sad. The baby is so good and so quiet but if he makes any sort of noise it kicks my DS off who goes into orbit and can’t come back down to earth he gets so upset!

Hello there, we are just in the thick of this with our 23mo and new born and just wondering how did you navigate through this? Kind regards Sinead

I’m now in exactly the same boat…. Someone please tell me the solution! The car is an absolute nightmare as they both scream non stop and it’s making me dread going anywhere

Hi, Ino this post was years ago, but incase you see if I was wondering what ever happened in the end how did you toddler get to stop.
i ask as I’m going through the exact same thing now I was a 2 year old and a 7 month old and it’s all suddenly started for years if the baby makes any noise then the toddler goes into a meltdown .. he’s got a speech delay so he can’t tell me why, but he goes over to the baby and starts crying he generally looks so sad Im not sure if he’s worried somethings up with the baby or if it’s a jelousy thing .
