rolling over and sleeping on tummy...risky at 20 weeks?

Our 20 week old seems suddenly to have had a great leap forward today and started rolling from back to tummy and tummy to back..(very exciting..but also scary...just how many sharp corners can there be in one little house?!)... but it means that for the first time tonight he's rolled over and I've just found him sleeping on his tummy. Has anyone any advice about whether it would be better to risk waking him and try to settle him to sleep on his back? Does the SIDS-related advice about putting babies to sleep on their backs still apply at this age? I'd assumed he'd cry and let us know if he rolled onto his tummy and couldn't roll back (he's in a sleeping bag) but obviously tonight he's happy sleeping like this and his breathing seems fine and normal...

both of mine slept better on their tummies and once they could roll over themselves I didn't worry about it tbh, but i don't know what the official line on it is

Once they do it by themselves, it's fine.

If he is strong enough to roll over he should be strong enough to sleep on his tummy if that's his preference. It is more risky in a young baby who has weaker neck muscles.

I assume you're not going to sit at his bedside all night putting him back on his back.....?

er, good point! I guess I should just go with it and enjoy the fact that he's able and happy to roll about...thanks!

as long as he can roll back i don't see that there is an issue.
