Dummy related. Ds2 is 5.5months old and seems to love his dummy, he always has something in his mouth which usually ends in him throwing up!
Anyway ds1 never had one and I have never really liked them, but ds2 is so completely different to ds1 total opposites, ds2 was breast fed (just stopped) so I wonder if that makes a difference? my question is: Which seems fairer, taking the dummy away now because hes still little and might not have the tantrums etc but is too little to explain why, come to an agreement etc. Or wait until he is older so we can explain why its going and deal with the tantrums then.?
Hope that made sense.

ds happily gave his up at just 3 in return for a present from the dummy fairy - he had only ever used it a night (and naps when younger) - don't know if this makes a difference

Maybe it would be better to wait and just cut down the dummy use in the day! I find that I rely on it now.....What did I do with ds1?

I'd remove it now. Must be easier to do at 5.5 months than any other time.

Have no direct experience as neither of mine would have one ...(not through want of trying i might add )...but nearly everyone i know has used dummies with theirs up to 3 and have managed to get rid of them easily.
He's only lickle... i would say cut keep it ...do whats easiest for you...plenty of time to get rid

At 9 months dd is barely concious of 'favourite' toys or teddies. I'm sure I could remove anything without her noticing. Maybe thats just her.

Oh its tricky isnt it. Ive never seen a baby shove so much stuff in their mouth. The other day I could hear him gagging and I ran in to catch him removing a toy rabbit from his mouth and no joke out came the ears then the head and a bit of the body followed!
He sticks in fingers down his throat, sucks on anything and is quite fond of grabbing you by the ears and pulling your head towards him so he can have a go on your nose. might be better to leave the dummy for a while.
Bit concerned that when he moves into his room Ill spend half the night running up and down shopving the thing back in again!
