14 weeks and 18 pounds- time for solids?

Hello mummy's
Just after a bit of advice-
My DS was 8ib 6 when he was born and is now 14 weeks and weighs in at a whopping 18 pounds. He was on the 75th percentile when he was born and I'm guessing he's heavier than that now.
I've started him on a tiny bit of baby porridge this week and he still has 5 bottles of 6/7 ounces in the day and a 5 ounce dream feed at night. Given his weight do you think he'd be more content on some solids?
Thanks all X

By the way, OP, usually when someone asks on Mumsnet "should I start weaning my baby on to solids now?" about a baby under six months, at least half the posts will be "I weaned my now-17yo at that age and she is the healthiest person I know".

The fact that Absolutely Every Single Poster here has told you it's far, far too early should tell you that it really, really is.

It's not only about the weight, it's whether or not they can actually swallow without choking.

At his age it's unlikely he'll be ready now.

No.

DS was a massive baby (11lbs 7oz born) and remained massive. He was EBF and weaned at about 6 months.

His size does not mean he needs weaning early.

I had two massive babies that stacked on weight quickly and neither needed solids until 5.5 months.
14 weeks is much too young- 17 is the absolute recommended minimum and this only on health professional advice. Stick to milk sounds like he's thriving
