And did it help

I was advised against using any pillows at all (including specialist ones) by the paediatrician we saw with ds. How old is your dc?

I didn't use a pillow but I never put mine on their backs while they were awake, and they have lovely round heads now. I think pillows are a suffocation risk under 12 months.

We used a cosydream and our baby has a lovely round head.
It's a mattress rather than a pillow.

I wouldn't bother. My ds has really quite a flat head at the back, he's two now and whilst it's rounded out a little it is noticeable. We had to go to see a paediatrician when he was about 5 ish months old because his head was growing very quickly (crossing centile lines), he wasn't spending unusual amounts of time on his back, we used a sling etc bur it was getting flat. She said that the "damage" was done whilst he was sleeping as he slept absolutely flat on his back and slept very well (11 hours straight at that point) at the same time as growing very quickly. I suggested a pillow and it was an absolute no from her because he was too young. Is the a reason this is worrying you? Even if babies get a flat spot 9 times out of 10 is rounds out when they start to crawl or gets covered by hair.

Mine didn't sleep through until at least 8 months and often slept on their sides while breastfeeding so this might be why we avoided a flat head.

He only slept that well until six months then I was made to pay!! He took every nap on me after a bf until around 8 months too but the damage is done at night.

I used a Mimos pillow from about four months onwards - my girl's head was noticeably flat on one side and she resolutely slept on her back facing that direction. No amount of repositioning would stop her. I would never recommend a pillow as such as it has to be the parent's decision, but I felt ok with it because it is made of a sort of webbed material - if you smush your face right into it, you can still breathe. Her head did noticeably round out from about 9 months onwards but as that coincided with crawling, I can't say if the pillow helped. I'm sure it stopped the flattening getting worse.

Our ds developed a flat head so I bought the mimos pillow and that sorted it out.. I was so worried he would need one of those helmets but the pillow was a godsend..
