A friend started it with her ds a little while back. Expensive and time consuming but she seems pleased with the progress so far.

zippitippitoes · 03/01/2007 19:59

what is semantic pragmatic?

| do wonder if the time spent doing the dore programme would be just as well spent on less expensive activities..I think some of it is the effect of regular routine activity

do you use ant computer aids

can he write or read?

sniff · 08/01/2007 11:14

hi

we are currently using the dore programme, my son is 7 and has add, dyspraxia, dyslexia and pdd nos. He has been on the programme since october and his handwriting has improved so much he couldnt even hold a pen when he started, yet his writing is now legible still scrawly but legible, and he can n ow colour between the lines, which is amazing. He learnt to ride a baike, he could do buttons after 2 weeks, confidence is really improving. We also got funding for 75% of the course through the caudwell trust if that helps but they had heard of the programme too and they said that they had a positive response to it.

Emma,

It is fantastic news to hear about your son and his progress. I have been through the programme too, several years ago. I am now actually working for Dore, it is so fulfilling to be giving something back to the organisation. I wasn't aware of The Caudwell Trust until reading your post - I am so glad to hear you managed to get the funding for the programme. How is everything going?

looking forward to hearing from you

all the best

hi my dd is showing autistic traits shes 3,lots of hand flapping, has anyone elses child done this if so when did it stop

twocutedarlings · 03/10/2007 18:17

Hi missH,

My DD1 now 5 has ASD, she also used to hand flap , How ever my DD whos almost 3 also hand flaps and she is most definatley NT (normal).

I thinks is quite common for small children to hand flap.

Does she show any other signs?? have you had a look at the NAS site.

It would also be a good idea to post your own thread on the SN board.

Friend used it and quite liked it. She did also use BIBIC though and preferred that. You need to look at which best suts your family and purse, I think.

PeachyFleshCrawlingWithBugs · 03/10/2007 18:22

DS1 (HFA) is semantic pragmatic as well btw, never gets any help for it ewither, bar BIBIC. Nt sure what can be done, although scrapbooks of literal sayings they come across can help ime.

Lindylou6 · 19/03/2008 05:54

Both my children went to BIBIC and proved really useful. They really do care and you get lots of support. Emphasis is put on diet/nutrition and exercises, trouble was getting them to do the exercises although you can have fun doing them, however, my children were older but I really do believe it works and is probably similar to the Dore programme. It may come down to location and how easy it is to access, BIBIC is based just outside Bridgwater in Somerset, 3 minutes from the M%, J23 and I know they were looking to expand, I think they are now in London and Kent, they may well have added more.

Finally, I found the staff absolutely wonderful and long term support is given.

Good luck and a happy Easter.
