I need to offer different things before he

try getting him involved in teh cooking. scrambled eggs/ french toast always a favourite for them to mix themselves.
rolling out pastry (for quiche/ pies) works well too.

do you make funny faces with the food?

am not too ashamed to admit that I ahve made myself the same dinner as the kids and we all sat around their table eating 'clowns faces'. Gosh, the things we do to force food down their little mouths!

I will try funny face.......

but if you eat pie or pasta dish with sauces....or chicken is difficolt.......

I will put more fantasy,.........

try a slice of toast in teh middle for face. put pasta around for hair and make face out of whatever fits.
Kids also love pasta beard.

point taken on pie: just make side salad interesting , and try to get them to roll out pastry to get involved in making it.

good luck!

is it because he is tired?

could you do dinner 15 mins earlier

i know if we start tea a minute after 1655 its going to be a disaster...

alwasy aim for 1645.... actually aim for 1630 but we are normally running late!

equally if they get there lunch many minutes after 1220 little one is too tired and in need for his after lunch afternoon nap to eat well!

I fimd with little ones timing can be crucial and 10 mins can make all the difference!

yes, sounds like tiredness to me, or too much to eat in the afternoon?.
