DD insists that she can do it now at 2 1/2. She can't. But gets very cross but that is just typical toddler lack of reason. We sort of compromise that I hold her hand while she writes.

DS was probably around about 3 and a lot. But it has got much clearer and he can now do it effortlessly and is starting to join up. He is 5 nearly 6 and I think that the thing that peachy said about links in the brain is just happening with him re writing. The reading and numeracy came first but also he seems to have taken to making 100s of Christmas cards with lengthy greetings inside (things like: hook your stockins by the fireplase ) so the desire to do it is there.

DS can not write his yet (he is going to be 4 in Feb), but he has been writing it with fridge magnets since he was 2, and can type it in the computer since 6 months ago!
