tiptoe walking/turning on spot

Did/do anyone else's dc like to walk on tiptoes and turn around and around on the spot (often standing on something such as an open magazine - never until completely dizzy, though) at +/-18 mo? ds is nearly 19mo and does both of these, neither 'obsessively' - he can walk fine on flat feet as well.
He points, plays imaginatively, understands instructions, imitates, has quite a few words (more than I thought he would at his age, as he's being brought up bilingually) so I'm not really concerned, more curious.
have to go to work soon but will be back later

that's quite impressive for 18 months. Good for the strength of his feet. I remember when my dd was about that age she realised she could walk backwards so did it almost constantly for about a week. It was just a phase.

thanks belgo ds has had very short bursts of walking backwards a couple of times!

That's also good for his balance.

My little boy who is nearly five years old walks on tiptoes. Although he was a bit different. When he was younger he could ONLY walk on tiptoes. Andrew had 18 months of physio to help him put his feet flat. Andrew still walks on his toes, but his function walking and running is good.

Toewalking is really commmon and isnt an issue provided that the child can choose to walk flat footed.

Provided there are no other developmental problems I wouldnt worry. Most children grow out of it. If you are concerned ask your GP to refer your son to a paediatrian.
