how does your baby seem now? are they unwell or sleepy at all?
was it just round the lips or was it the tounge/inside of mouth as well? Has it ever happened before?

it is not possible on an internet thread to provide safe medical advice, but blue lips are a concern in a baby as it suggests that they are not supplying enough oxygenated blood to those areas
there are lots of potential reasons for this, some trivial and some more serious, but the symptom warrants being checked out by a medical professional who can fully examine and assess your baby and make

I would call NHS direct/NHS24 or whatever it is in your area and they can advise/arrange a suitable local place to have your child seen

It could just be that he got a bit cold, they can also get a blue tinge round the mouth when sleeping. It's to do with them centralising heat in their core. We took 8 day old DD to the GP cos we were worried, only to be told this (very kindly and after a full examination) with a 'look at the new parents, aren't they funny' head tilt. In our defence we had been in neo natal for the 7 days previous and she had been red/yellow up to then.

However as a PP said it can also been low blood oxygen so if it persists and baby seems unwell/you are at all concerned follow your gut and get him checked out. Doctors generally seem to have a very understanding attitude to checking babies over even if it turns out to be nothing.

Ring nhs 111. They'll be able to assess your LO over the phone and advise.
