Helping DS to sit up

Can anyone tell me if there's a recommended time limit for a baby to be propped up at any one time. DS is 18 weeks and desperate to sit up. He can manage it with very little support from me and I've just bought him a playnest to sit in. I'm just a bit worried about any strain on his back at this young age and wondered how long I should be keeping him propped for. Any advice gratefully received. Thanks.

ahhhhhhhhh

first time mum worries

i was there not so long ago, and look at me now; aged, haggard, wise(r)...

your baby will be absolutely fine propped up until he is not happy with it any more, at which point he will let you know, and you will change his position. theyre really quite robust, honest

My DD spent hours in a dog basket, sorry baby nest, quite content and Ds didn't run the risk of tripping over her.

I shouldn't worry about it, he won't be doing anything for too long that he is not capable off. Be very thankful that he enjoys sitting up rather than trying to crawl, it will be invaluable in the coming weeks.....
