DS2 seems to be tantrumming more and more. Which is fair enough, he's two. This morning really has me baffled though. I got to him a few minutes after he woke up (no slower than usual), to find him lying in bed, flailing about and shouting at me. (But being careful, while flailing, to not hit his legs on the cot bars )

I eventually got him out of bed, only to lie in my bed with him, and to have him shouting "NO!" at every suggestion and hitting me (mostly gently).

So I got out of bed, but I have no idea how to calm him down, or indeed, what caused this. Maybe a bad dream?

i'd leave him in bed for a further 10 - 20 mins for him to calm down as sometimes my dd says no when she doesnt want to get up so ill leave her for a bit and then she is all calm and is expecting me too

One of my DTs went through a phase of doing this at a similar age and the only thing that seemed to work was just to leave her to work it out on her own, either on the floor so she could strop safely or in bed. Like your DS, cuddles just didn't work. I don't know what caused it, but you'll be pleased to hear she's 3 next week & has grown out of it!

Souns like my ds most mornings at the moment actually. He's pretty grumpy when he gets up

I do have the occasional day when he isn't like that and he wakes up happy but most days he is very wearing in the mornings - He has been like this for a few weeks now. I find that if I let him work it out himself he gets over it quicker. He lets me know when he wants a cuddle but if I try before he is ready I just get thumped for my trouble.

Hmm, maybe I should have left him in his bed longer then. I'll try to get to him faster tomorrow morning, I guess - I was busy eating my breakfast, and he often grumbles a bit, off and on, when it's time for him to get up.

He could have been hungry, I guess. But when I brought him to my bed, I was offering milk, which earned me a very very loud "NO!".

He isn't great about eating at the end of the day, anyway. He has a good breakfast, a good lunch, and then that's often it for the day.
