10month old DD loss of appetite - please help!

DD has been a great eater and will feed herself all sorts plus have stuff from a spoon...until last Thursday (10 days ago) when she started to lose her appetite. At first I thought it was just teething (only 2 teeth so far) and then a cold (she has a permanently runny nose) and then a few days later she started being sick and was bringing back pretty much any fluid she had taken in. Then she started refusing milk as well as water and became v listless and drowsy so we saw a gp on the Wednesday who confirmed dehydration and so we have been suringing water into her. Since then she has still been sick once per day but is hardly taking in any food except yoghurt and strawberries ( which often make a reappearance anyway). She is taking a little more milk but less than 200ml per day and hardly any water. We had her back at the gp on Friday too but she looked quite bright eyed and he dismissed us. Just so worried that she has barely eaten or taken milk which has stayed down for 10days. She is also really miserable and just wants to lie down on me all the time and is v tired despite sleeping all night and 2 naps in the day. Gp has checked her out twice and just said it was probably a combination of teething/cold/tummy bug. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this? How long does appetite take to come back? She is only little as it is and I'm so worried about her losing weight. Sorry for the pointless essay :-(

Is she still having wet nappies?

If the answer is no then I would be considering A&E in your situation.

Certainly my experience of small people is that their appetite can really wane for a couple of weeks when a bunch of teeth are coming through or they have a bug of some sort. As long as you are getting enough fluid into them to produce regular wet nappies then do try not to worry about food- she will eat again when she is ready and feels well enough too.

I would keep an eye on her being listless, combined with not enough fluid this is where the worry should be focused. Is she spiking temperatures? Any other symptoms?

I hope she gets well soon.

Thanks for replying - she is having a bit more milk today at least! She hasn't had a temp of any other symptoms which is why it's all very odd. She's my third so I've been through teething etc before...
