A 10 month old that says 15 words - is that possible?

I was talking to my friend about the upcoming 9 month development check for my dd2. She said her ds2 had his check at 10 months and that the doctor was astonished that her son could already say 15 words. To be fair I was astonished too! Is that really possible? Have you ever known a baby of that age that can talk that much? When we were together she sometimes said " Listen, he's saying such and such", but to me it just sounded like babbling - but then a Mum can understand a child much better...
My dd2 can't talk at all, by the way, and the only word she really seems to understand is her name.

Our dd1 (now 3) spoke very early, with first clear words at about 9 months. I remember jotting down all the words she could say at 18 months and it came to 350, and she was using full correct grammatical sentences well before she was 2. But she was much slower at other stuff (eg physical coordination - jumping etc.).

I think they all do things at different ages, and it's best not to get worried about it. 9 months is very very early, and IMO no one starts to get concernd about communication until they're well into their second year or even their third.

(It's interesting that dd1 has mirrored my abilities in this (I speak 4 languages, but can't play sports to save my life!).)

funny you should say that utka because ds does take after me too. im rubbish at anything that requires coordination but i was an early talker. ive a feeling dd will be the other way around, shes a lot stronger physically than ds was at that age.
