What was your favourite month during the first year?

I'm asking because my dd is nearly 20 weeks old and I'm having such a nice time with her now I find it hard to imagine it getting better. Does it or has it peaked in terms of newborn cuteness??! She's not even rolling yet but she is so good-natured, feeds at regular intervals and has at least 1 long nap a day (even if I can never predict when that is going to be!)

So what was your favourite time please?

4-5 months, they can only do the dying fly at this age! They are cute, without arguing, not that mobile, so you don't have to baby proof everyhing, sleep pretty well, and still only want milk. They also laugh, coo and giggle, and are still light enough to carry.

I agree with fizz buzz, I loved 4-6 months as DS was just so cute and smily but easily amused and loved shopping trips.

Now he is 8mths he is a bit more discerning about his smiles and the little chap is crawling and getting into everything. However it is good that he can play with his toys more and I love it when he laps up his food ( particularly if its home made)

So I have peaked then! You're so right. And she hasn't learnt separation anxiety yet but is always happy to see and play with me, or even watch me do the washing etc. She's a joy to be with and it's such a relief as I found the first 8 weeks so hard.

9 months for me. They start to be a little more 'entertaining'

poppiesinaline · 24/11/2006 17:12

yet still cute and squidgy

Twiglett · 24/11/2006 17:15

I liked May .. not too hot and not too cold and not as much rain as April

NAB3 · 24/11/2006 17:24

I read it the first time as favourite month of last year as well and was going to put June as I had my darling baby boy.

aliceband · 24/11/2006 17:53

i remember specifically 9 months, i was jsut about to go back to work and was missing ds already!

pointydog · 24/11/2006 18:54

I liked 9 months too. They could sit up and play on the floor, roll or crawl about, sit in a swing at the park. They stopped looking really fat and neckless. Very very smiley. Aw.

DumbledoresGirl · 24/11/2006 18:57

From about nine months onwards. Say from 9 - 18 months. At that age they seem to do something new every day - either a new physical skill, or a new food, or a new tooth or a new word (once they start talking). It is endless entertainment.

motherinferior · 24/11/2006 19:01

Oh, they just get better and better.

ellesbells · 24/11/2006 19:41

hi newmum. every month is getting better and better for me. my dd3 is 8 months and yesterday she started to cock her head from side to side with a big smile when anyone talks to her. (it looks sooo cute i could burst!!)

xmasstocking · 24/11/2006 19:49

Pointy - LOL at 'neckless' comment - just noticed today that DS (19 weeks) has no neck!! Glad he is not alone in that.

Newmum1000 · 25/11/2006 10:08

Funny, my mum said 9 months too! Love the head cocking from side to side and smiling It's all ahead of us...

7 months - she's trying new foods, sleeps through 8pm-8am, just learnt pull herself up to stand, can sit solidly so can play on her own, and she thinks I'm the best and most important person in the whole world!
