Teething question for those with DS's

i've noticed whilst J's been teething (noticed more today) this testies are rather small and the area around it looks a little swollen - I asked DH to have a look and he agreed the area was swollen. so my question is -

is it normal for little boy's to have swollen bit's when teething? he's 9 months, peeing/pooping OK. (is in no discomfot when peeing that i've noticed - and last night's let's pee over mummy he thought was quite funny!)

he has been up at least 3 times a night over the past week - sometimes more often but again i've put this down to teething. I was going to take him to the dr's tomorrow AM if it was still up a bit, but what do you think? - if it's normal I'll just keep an eye on it.

(testies are also tight into his body - they were never really big/free but I guess the whole area's making it seem smaller.)

I have ds he is 2 and 1/2 now. I don't recall having these problems, but if I were you I would def take him to doctors

ok will get him booked in - I don't want to appear over reacting thou to a dr and told 'he's fine stop exaggerating etc' but if it's not normal then it needs sorting.

I have 17mth old DS who has been teething for ages now & there hasn't been any swelling. Def think you should get him checked out to be on the safe side.

Not come across this myself -- they can kind of tighten up a bit when DS has a fever, though, so if your DS is running a temperature from the teething then that might have some impact? I'd definitely get it checked out, though.

ok thanks all, have rung the dr, and need to ring back at 3 to actually speak to someone. I think i'd best try to get him in tonight - tbh he doesn't feel feverish. best be on the safe side I think then and get him in for this avo - even if she does say he's fine there's nothing wrong at least my mind will be put to ease.

would peeing not hurt him if there was a prob with his works?

Depends what it is -- there's a lot of different stuff going on in that general area. Hypothetically if it were a problem with his testicles, say, it probably wouldn't affect his peeing.

(Personally when I get a urinary infection it never hurts to pee -- it hurts not to pee, so I spend my life glued to the toilet dribbling it out (mmm, nice). So there are a range of possible symptoms even for that).

lol. lemonade! thanks for that image! lol.

the dr suggests a warm bath to see if that helps the issue at all as a cold room can bring the testies close (althou had just taken his nappy off) and has booked him in for 5pm.

he's got a runny nose thou (I assumed the cold was from teething so perhaps he's gonna come in for a cold as well??) anyhow he's off for a bath and fingers crossed that's all it is me being paranoid! lol.
