Head control in a 3 month old

My 3 month old still has very minimal head control, tummy time she holds it for about 5 secs then puts it down and just lies there. When you pull her arms to do a 'sit up' she doesn't hold it at all. My older two seemed much stronger at this point so don't know if she is behind, a bit lazier or if the other two developed it earlier? Can anyone tell me when their dc managed a bit of head control, anyone's particularly late but was developmentally fine?

Thank you, I asked the hv today and although the she is a little chilled out she is making the right movements so I think it's a case of her not being in a rush!

That's good news Smile

Does she 'try' and fail to hold her head or is she not trying at all? I think if it is the former then it's just a matter of time before her neck is strong enough. If it's the latter you should keep a close watch & take it forward with go etc. if you see no improvements.

Gp!

After a month of seeing how she progresses she is getting better, I think she is just slower at those milestones. She is now 4.5 months, she gets almost onto her side when on her back moving around, but nowhere near rolling over yet. She puts her head up but gets tired of it quickly and puts it back down. Since she is progressing I am not worrying much but she is definately on the chilled side. Thank you artistic I have been doing exactly what you said and hopefully she will just be nice and chilled out and not give me the runaround too early on Smile

My ds was still floppy at four months. Health visitor didn't seem concerned and suggested lots of tummy time. After a month or so he was rolling over and holding his Head up Smile

It has prolonged the newborn stage at least Grin
