Question about toy cars/figures for boys

Can anyone recommend brands of cars and figures that are transformerish - as in do things e.g. car shoots out of its side wings - but are not transformers? For a 4 year old.

Sorry, I hope that's not confusing question. I've seen loads of good boys cars and figures and have no idea of brand or where to start looking for them

Our DS had many Lego sets, that could be assembled in various ways, to make different types of vehicle, space-ship or what ever. That was thirty years ago, so I'm not up to date with what Lego are doing these days, though I know some things are software-controlled, and there are on-line design activities for models. Our DS had an early Lego 'computer' that controlled a crane to pick up bricks of different colours, but that was just programmed; now I dare say they have optical sensors to recognise things, and there are PC connections I think.

But two things you can be sure of with Lego: quality is always high, but, unfortunately so are prices!

If I come across other things that might be more appropriate, I'll come back sometime.

Ignoring the whole idea of "boys cars".... I have no idea what a boys car is compared to just a normal car...

Anyway, how about the Vtech Switch & Go Dinos? They are dinosaurs that convert into vehicles. I think they would be suitable for boys or girls!

CultureSucks - you're absolutely right. I've got no idea why I wrote 'boy's car'. Awful wording! Sorry and thanks for the suggestions.
