Hi, my DS has just learned to roll over and is practicing in his sleep. However he is waking up frightened and we are getting lots of disturbed sleep.
Can you help? He's hysterical when it happens x

Try putting a rolled up blanket on each side of him . It might stop him being able to roll in his sleep

He will get used to it and soon enough he will be able to readjust himself, my dd is 8months and after about a week or two she was able to re adjust herself

It's a painful stage! I used to put my DD right against the side of the cot, on the side that she would roll into (I think they often master one side before the other). That seemed to reduce it.

As pp have said, it won't last too long.

Terrible stage we just had to ride through it as wasnt keen on the blanket idea. She soon got over it tho and now sleeps on her front at 8 months.

When DS reached this stage I had just bought some larger size sleeping bags in a half-price sale. They were safe for him, as in his head couldn't slip through the neck hole, but really long at the foot end. By putting DS down at the foot end of the cot and tucking the excess sleeping bag under the mattress DS couldn't roll over and slept much better. I only had to do it for a few nights and the urge to practice rolling in his sleep seemed to pass.

My dd1 did this but would wake up and cry about it several times a night. We did the rolled up towels under the sheet to make a nest, a paediatrician recommended it to me as they do it in hospital so I couldn't see it being too unsafe as long as they can't get trapped underneath. I kept them in until she knew how to roll the other way.
