suggestions for 'quiet time'

DD is 4. She dropped her daytime nap just before she turned 3 however she could really still do with one to get her through the day. she gets very tired after nursery in the mornings and ends up getting really silly by late afternoon. She point blank refuses a nap which is fine because I think it would affect bedtime however she really needs some 'quiet time' to relax her mind etc. Any suggestions on how to achieve this? Thanks, I have a 5 month old to look after too so the idea of sitting quietly reading to her isn't always possible.

Audio books
Cbeebies
Colouring
Jigsaws
Play-doh
Sticker books

what time of day would u suggest I did this, if I miss the opportunity she gets really aggy that she can't do things by herself.
I'm all for Cbeebies but I do find she gets too stimulated by it and ends up asking a million questions relating to what she's watching Grin

My 3 yo has 30 mins in her room with some Playmobil that I don't get out at other times straight after lunch. I think it might be mainly for my benefit! I leave the baby monitor on in case there is a problem (live in a tall house).

With my 4 year old (so has a bit more stamina and hasn't had an afternoon nap in almost two years), I find if he comes home at 1.30 by 4 he is ready for quiet time. We do reading because it is just me and him. Then tbh he cannot really function much after 4 so we do tea before 5 and then magazine and a game before bedtime telly at six. He doesn't get over stimulated by rely though.

I like the sound of 30 minutes quiet play in their bedroom with roots that exclusively come out for that session only.

Good luck.

I would try going for a quiet activity two hours after you come home. If there is no fallout then gradually push it back.

toys not roots!

We do after lunch here. An hour reading/ looking at books in bedroom, sometimes they fall asleep still
