22mo DD refuses pushchair

I am at my wits end.

She has recently started refusing to go in the buggy. She screams and throws herself about and can wriggle not the straps on all 3 pushchais no matter how tight I do them.

She is happy to walk and is generally OK with walking but only short distances then she sits herself down and refuses to move or be carried.

I am struggling with the school run in the morning, it's taking far too long and it's a long walk up a big Hill so she gets tired very quickly

Any tips on trying to get her to stay in the buggy? Should I just persevere and continue to put her back in until she gets the message or would something else be better?

I usually give my ds something to eat in his buggy if we are waiting for the bus as when we stop walking he wants out or he takes his fave toy and I say oh look a lorry a dog anything to keep him occupied!

We have a buggy board which is great (we have told ds it's his skateboard like the big cool kids have and he's so happy to go on it!)

We also have a push along trike that we sometimes use instead of the pushchair/buggy board.

Have you tried taking the buggy, but letting her walk, until she gets tired?

She might be happy to go in the buggy, then.

Could you try a sling or buckled carrier?

EdSheeransGString · 29/04/2015 09:29

Thanks for the suggestions I think I'll invest in a trike - I never thought of that and it might help me out. Dd1 was never like this but dd2 is determined to do everything herself so I'm hoping she will figure out that walking long distances = tiredness.

I suffer from sciatica so a sling or carrier is out unfortunately but I'll keep taking the buggy (and food) with me wherever and hope she takes the hint.

The school run took 40 minutes this morning I'm not long home I'm soaked through and so is she.

A trike worked for us. We haven't used the buggy since about 20 months. It's also a lot lighter than a buggy.

If the trike doesn't work, I've found a little bag of breadsticks or (bad I know) my iPod but needs must
