Sandy poo

Hi can anyone shed any light on this... My 16 months old for the last two days has had sandy poo. It looks like she has eaten sand and it hard to wipe off and gives her a bad rash. She has been near no sand! Googling this comes up with 1.Celiac 2. Some type of food intolerance or 3.Austim!

I haven't changed anything in her diet so am baffled? She is fine in herself.

My 2.5 year old had this this week and he tells me he hasn't eaten sand. I do believe him as he has grown out of that sort of thing. He has been under the weather with a cold and complaining of tummy ache so I put it down to that. Doesn't have runny or explosive poos associated with coeliac, or any intolerances I know of and I pray he's not autistic- doesn't seem to be. So sorry no help but you are not alone! Grin

Thanks for this. I never even knew it could happen. So random to see when changing a nappy. My little girl also doesn't show any signs of anything else. Google can be terrifying! Thank you for sharing x

My 15 month old DS has this when he eats wheat based breastfast cereal like weetabix or shredded wheat. We call them biscuity poos because it's like biscuit crumbs and like you say a nightmare to clean off.

I didn't google it so didn't panic, we just noticed the pattern and stopped feeding him those breakfast cereals. He now has porridge instead.

But now I'm worrying having seen your OP!

OP? Honestly don't worry at all! Especially if it's stopped thing is she has been having cereal at nursery since 10 months old. So cereal like this is not new to her. I have looked more into the autism thing on the net and she doesn't show any signs at all.

Wonder if her cereal brand has changed at nursery...it's mainly weetobix same as usual.

Dd had this for months, she still might but she's toilet trained. She has a host of food allergies. Mild food allergies often present as a sore tummy and runny nose. The symptoms include heartburn and a hay fever type allergic response.
