Anyone else have kids who just aren't interested in toys?

I have an almost 9yo DS and a just 2yo DD, neither are interested in toys but they have loads and I'm not sure whether to clear out altogether and buy if they show interest in something or strip toys back to basics and see if having less will maybe encourage play. What did you do?

My DS is only interested in Lego and Playmobile - other than that he wants to be outside or climbing the furniture! I took a bin bag up to his room before Christmas and asked him what he wanted to give away - he put nearly everything in the bag - we needed two in the end. I am so glad we got rid of everything because now he has space to play with what he likes and there is no clutter.

Think I'll do downstairs tonight and bedroom tomorrow.

Am keeping the basics so DD will have Hide n Squeak eggs, Wooden blocks, Musical instruments, singing piggy bank, doll/pram/crib/highchair and a few puzzles.

DS will have Lego, hot wheels and board games.

Will also keep wooden trainset for both of them.

Both of my DC aren't that interested in toys, particularly DS who has ASD. I've taken him into a toyshop and told him I will buy him whatever he wants, no questions .... we walked out empty handed. Our craft supplies get used a lot, but not toys.

Neither of them like crafts either Hmm

The only thing DS likes doing is playing outdoors or playing Minecraft indoors.

DD just likes to potter about.

DS1 was never into toys. He was bloody hard work tbh, expecting constant entertainment with adult input. The only thing he ever got into was role play and dressing up, and that was only when his brother was old enough to join in.
We did keep the toys however, but DS2 got far more use out of them than DS1 ever did.
