...join me in stoically ignoring him whilst shaking with anger on the inside?

Hi
Currently doing the same with my five year old. Mine ran off without telling me where he was going (and no coat on) I told him off, and he proceeded to try and break everything on the way home, telling me "if I break this bag you can buy me a new one" - time out when back at home, and he's putting new dents in the walls and door frames and trying to jump through the floor. I'm scoffing chocolate like no tomorrow to recover!

danceswithmonkeys · 01/11/2006 15:55

Aaaaaaaaaaah, the old chocolate scoff, I've resorted to biscuits as no chocolate in the house.
Actually ds has recovered now and is trying to turn the washing machine on, I'm turning a blind eye though (picking my battles)
Thanks for the support though. Hope yours gets over it soon too.

Hi DWM

DS is 3 going on 14 and is prone to full tantrums especially in public (bless) and today I have put him to bed in full blown terrible terry tantrum mode, come down stairs and hit mumsnet.

It's the best for all of us

danceswithmonkeys · 01/11/2006 16:06

Oh ds was employing the 'pause to renew energy and lull mum into a false sense of security' tactic and is now back to tantruming. JOY.

BTW ds is only 21 months, not even 2 yet. Bl**dy hell. Can't wait until he reaches 2/3yrs...not.
Dd seems to have mainly passed tantruming phase but is testing out 'cheek' as a new weapon of choice.

What me, fed up?

Mine all started tantrums at 10 months and the baby is having them quite a few times a week now.

Cailyn3 · 01/11/2006 17:15

Mines currently stopped tantrumming (after another one since my last post) but now gone totally hyperactive...running around the house like a lunatic and trying to get little brother to join in....took an hour and a half from the first tantrum to get him calm enough just to reason with him! Think he's overtired but even then, he's not usually this awful. At least he's stopped breaking things, although he's just started to mouth off, blaming me for making him cry by telling him off and putting him time out (I've just told him that if he keeps up the attitude he can go right back there!)

Cailyn3 · 01/11/2006 17:27

Well that didn't last long - back in time out for trying to stab his younger sibling with the crayons. He decided to be really friendly and spit all over me while I put him there......my nearly three year old is never this awful!

danceswithmonkeys · 01/11/2006 18:17

Oh my goodness (sorry, hour long break for tea and biscuit icing) he sounds like a handful. Ds has a really determined streak, I think I'm in for some fun times too...
